INTERSECTIONAL LEXICON
I love words and I believe they are powerful. They can hurt or heal an individual or a community. My purpose with this project is to provide a tool for words to become means of peaceful communication and community building by eliminating means of oppression and discrimination through language.
WHAT IS THIS?
This is a compilation of words that should be abolished from our vocabulary. It includes discriminative, repressive, derogatory, abusive, and violent terms, with an explanation of why these words are oppressive and a kind offer of an alternative term to be used instead.
This violent language is hurtful and we should take this into consideration when speaking our minds. This is not about being "politically correct", but rather about being compassionate and sympathetic and seeing beyond our "freedom of speech" and into the humanity of others.
